MRKet New York show January 2012

MRKet show was held last week end in NY. We had a good one. The Italian section of the trade show was equal in Companies number compared to last season, but the show becomed bigger, as new US Companies were showing there.

Show entrance

Just at the entrance there was some nice installations with selected items (see pictures).

Macko installations

Sentiment of our customers was quite positive, as the dollar is little stronger compared to the euro and the sales during Christmas has been good. 2012 it is also the election year and usual this event is moving the economy, as most of our customers are selling high quality clothes and the election campaign is full of events were people need to be well dressed.

Made In

Discussions about "Made in" are going on more and more on the web. We can certify our production is made 100% in Italy and 99% in our factory (we have only a couple of styles we outsourced from an Italian friend who has a machine we are missing).
The yarn we are buying is spinned in Italy, following all the rules of REACH regulamentation, very strict about the consumer's health care. The soap we use to clean the socks after production and to test the yarn is certified too. All our production is strictly complaining the EU regulamentation.
All this of course has a cost for us and we are pleased and proud to pay it.
When talking about "Made in" and difference in price compared to others Countries, we hope the final consumer keep in mind what we are doing to protect the health.
As a Company we don't feel better or worst compared to others Companies in others Countries, we are playing the game...only we hope everybody is following the same rules, in order to compete all on the same "battle-field".
We have recently invested in one washing machine working without using the water, another step on our way to make our factory "100% pollution free".

Pitti January 2012

As promised we will post some comments and pictures about Pitti held in Florence last week.

Main Entrance Gate
It was a good one for us, but generally speaking the affluence was good the second and third day, the last one was quite desert. Customers mainly coming from Europe and Far East, but you can have the exact details visiting the Pitti web site.

Bresciani stand
There were a lot of events, including a nice one at Palazzo Vecchio, promoted by Mondadori Group. And, as usual, a lot of VIP at the stands.

Inside space at Fortezza da Basso

Just inside the main gate
Other pictures will follow...now we are at Milan Fashion Week and end of the week...New York !

Tricks : how to discover it is hand linked or not

As we discussed some months ago, one of the main issue about quality socks it is the linking, as the sock is tubolar and usually coming out of the machine open toe. The best way to explain the difference it is posting some pictures (sorry for the bad quality of the pictures, but the budget at the moment doesn't allow a better machine) :

Hand linked toe

Machine linked toe

you can see the first picture the two parts are closed by knitting points, the second one the two parts are cut and sewn by nylon.
