Mes Chaussettes Rouges Paris event - III edition

November 26th, for the third year in a row, we held an event with our friends of Mes Chaussettes Rouges in Paris.
It was really a great success and a real pleasure to meet a lot of our French fans, to have their feedback and to present them our new collection and the special capsule "viaggio in Sicilia", inspired by the beautiful mosaics of the Monreale Cathedral.
We understood more and more people is really interested in knowing how and where the product is made, the people who are behind the brand and the future projects of the Company.
This is really paying back all our work, making us even more proud of what we do everyday.
And really surprising, we met a lot of young people ! The future in here ...

What is driving your shopping ?

As a small artisanal Company, we have in any case to deal not only with managing to produce the best quality possible, but also developing the best style and finally marketing our products.
I would say the last part is the most difficult for people like us.
Our main target is focus on production and style. Marketing is not really in our background.
But the world is marketing today.
As you can see from the reports on the magazines and newspapers, it is quite a difficult year for fashion's Companies. The economic world situation, the wars, the tragedies, the terrorism, after causing terrible disaster all over the Earth, have at last a bad influence on our work too.
And it is not only related to the matter that people has less money to spend.
In our case the problem is people lost the desire to shop. 
Too many problems in the minds of our final consumers are killing the business.
Notwithstanding this situation, our Bresciani label keeps growing season by season and from Winter 2016 you can find our socks also at :

These are the last "new entries" in the Bresciani world.

Not much more to say

During these years we wrote about production, yarns, machinery, market, web, style...I would say there is not much more to say about what we are doing at Bresciani.
We can always talk about the present and the future of our brand, because what is happening now and what is supposed to happen in the future, has not yet part of the history..
So what's happening today ? Just a big caos all around the world, which of course is influencing the sell out and distribution of everything.
We just attended the MRKet show in NY and it was not bad, as quite good was Pitti.
Bresciani booth was in "pole position", maybe not only because of the alphabetical sequence..
Starting from September you will find our socks at Neiman Marcus, but this is another history...

See now, sock now

If you are interested in fashion you have for sure read about the discussion "see now, buy now".
As already mentioned in previous post, web changed the rules of the market.
We will have Pitti next week and we will show the new proposal for Spring 17; it means that what you will see on magazines and newspapers after Pitti, you will have the opportunity to buy only during Spring 2017.
People is not understanding this timing. "If you are showing now, why I have to wait 6 months ?".
Bresciani decided few seasons ago to have a permanent collection, always ready for our retailers, but now we are doing a further step : small collections produced and available for sale during the years.
It mean that what you see now, you can buy now..

See now...sock now !

Web changed the market's rules

As producers, we produce for our Bresciani brand but we produce for other brands too.
The situation is that Bresciani is growing season by season.
Why ?
I believe the web is the main reason.
People has now the tools to look for the best value for price and compare all the different brands.
Small brands have now the power to communicate their products without investing millions in advertising (by the way, this is money that small Companies never had).
This mean that we can invest all the money in keeping the quality and the service.
It feels like to be the old artisan in a small laboratory based in a little village in the most remote village up in the mountains, who magically has the power to open his windows to the entire world.
Customer fell that behind the brand there is real people, not only managers, marketing services, call centers... Of course this is for better or for worse. But it seems the consumers are appreciating this "back to the past".
What is the key point ? The key point is that fashion is fashion. Customers are always looking for something new and keeping the attention on the brand during the years is really difficult.
But in this case too something is changing. Maybe due to the crisis, people is more and more looking for something that will not be influenced by the passing.
Our "evergreen" styles are the best sellers...
It is actually a long and complicate discussion and...we have too much work to do and so little time for discussing...

No-socks look. Are you sure ?

It is quite normal we are strongly hoping that the warm season will not bring another time this fashion of the no-socks look.
We already highlighted why this is not good for your skin, also in the case you are wearing good shoes.
Going deeper in the discussion we are asking ourselves if this look is related to the fact that now 90% of socks' collections are "one size" with elastan.
Even the best quality sock with elastan can't compete in lightness and transpiration with a 100% natural cotton sock. The elastan is making in any case the sock heavier and influencing the transpiration of your feet.

Pitti 89

Winter 16 previews

...and another Pitti is gone.
More and more public relations, press and advertising during the show. And that's good.
But Pitti is born as a trade show (and luckly still it is). 
It is the occasion to meet our retailers, share info, discuss trends and do our job : collecting orders for the Winter 16 season.
For medium/small Companies it is the only occasion to have the collection on the stage.
Most of the Companies attending don't have the power to attend the fashion weeks, catwalks or to place their collection in the big show rooms.
So Pitti it is an unique occasion to meet old and new customers.
And to have a little press.
I will not talk about the trends as you will easily find all the info on the web, but I can tell that exhibitors were happy about the trade, notwithstanding the world's complicate financial and political situation.
About our collection : also this season we have our "classic" collection and our "unica" casual collection. Two completely different concepts. Two completely different kind of retailers and final consumers. Both collection did their job very well. So...

Long life to Pitti !
